Anglers Trout Fly
What are some good tips for one-time bass fisherman to start fly fishing for trout?
I was a fisherman tournament long for largemouth bass. But from (from last week) fly fishing for trout, casting is good, but it seems this is something that always need improvement. Would like some advice on books, videos, what flies to use, etc. I live in MT and have access to great fishing, so one does not lead place would be a good starting point over and let me know if you want to go fishing!
The Internet is full of resources. Coming from a background of low, you may find the most similar and most forgiving set of flies to use are as woolly buggers and streamers nymphs and dry clousers because need more experience to drift, without slipping. You can use a 4X tippet and heavy as a tie in a slightly weighted uncle, then just work like a jerk bait, worm or plastic template – Up, down through all the work. Try pickling line, at different speeds or simply hang the fly in the current when it is below you slowly and return path. Use a short leader tippet and no more than 8 feet until you are comfortable. Even 6 feet can be caught, if you have trouble getting down with a leader more. Pay particular attention to areas of rapid and is hard to go wrong. The use of these waters great if you can (2 feet deep is the serpentine water of good quality) then once they feel more comfortable with a casting rod can be connected to a fishing buddy to show you how to drift a dry fly. At this point, only need to stop the cast and see how the other fish – no poor substitute for direct observation. The nymphs are probably the most difficult, because if indicator is used much more knots you at first, and no one is really familiar with the presentation drag drift blind.
