Balls Fly Tying
centripetal force question, which had three examples of centripetal force, but I am a bit confused …?
Examples: 1) the moon in orbit around Earth 2) a ball on a rope tied to a stake, and the ball spins around it 3) a man running around a circular track, I see the relationship between the moon orbiting the earth, and the ball becomes the chain around the pole, the rope is like gravity, to break the string, the ball flies at a tangent, "off" of gravity, the moon flew to a tangent, but I do not see how that relates to a man running a circular track? no gravity (the center of the track), there a "chain?
Friction between the man and the land provides the force (in) to keep the inner man moves in a circle – like tension on the ball chain. This illustrates why the man bends slightly toward the center of the circle to avoid falling. Imagine a vector arrow is the reaction vertically up the floor at his feet to his weight. The centripetal force of friction is a small arrow going inward. The total of these vectors is added arrows. Man leans toward the inside of its center of mass and feet are in line with the overall arrow vector. This is most obvious for a bike goes around a curve.
