Feathers Dubbing Flies
admin November 11th, 2009

What Copy / What I can use?
I forgot to buy the dubbing of my bird. What exactly is dubbing and I can use instead? For example, I can use the soft skin of my dog (only gave him a haircut) to copy or I can use the soft part of feathers?
The short answer: The Dubbing is any material that is bent, rolled or otherwise of a length of wire is wrapped around the stem to form the body of a fly. Well, this was not a short answer, but you must understand that many different materials can "bend" with a little preparation. For many years, the common choice dubbing was natural skin. Sometimes this includes hair care, chopped (Another term for you), while other times he would understand that the soft padding. Skin natural is always a great choice (unless your vegan) and a variety of sources: the rabbit, beaver, muskrat, squirrel, mole, stamps, etc. Your dog, few exceptions, is not the best option for the dubbing of the hair fibers of the skin / non-canine qualities desired in most fishing flies. It is free and available … so do not let me stop you from trying. In fact, the experiment will help to realize the qualities that work for you. Synthetic materials have become more common, either for lack of availability of traditional materials or improved features in modern synthetics. Many synthetic liners Antron (trilobal nylon) or mixing with staff. The variety is almost endless today, with little of me trying to describe. Just know that are easy to use, alone or mixed with other materials synthetic or natural, and the results are amazing. Dubbing can also be made of the silk, feathers (CDC) and even the hollow hair (like the hair of deer). Although these shields are not traditional, it is clear that almost nothing can be used as if called to the desired characteristics. If you ask around, you will appreciate that many Tyers the creative aspect of the link.
