My wife and I love curling up in front of a cozy fire. Unfortunately we keep ending up with rental properties without fireplaces…
So when Santa brought us a new 65″ High-Def Television, and I connected it to my fancy Playstation 3, inspiration hit. “Hey, I wonder if they make any Blu-Ray fireplace DVD’s… Ah-yeup!
Video Quality is excellent. Sound is… …passable. I think they responded to previous complaints of unwanted ambient noise by making an audio recording of a DIFFERENT fire and simply laying it over all the video tracks. Pops in the flame don’t seem to jive with pops in the audio track. This is especially true in the Modern scene, which shows a simple (but beautiful) gas fireplace. You still hear the pops and cracks though, which you’d never hear from a gas fireplace! For those of us who really love to sit and WATCH a fire, you end up feeling a little disconnected. But if you’re just looking for ambient noise or the visual flares in your room, this will work just fine. Plus, there’s ambient “bug noise” on the Beach scene, and some differences in reverberation in the Castle scene.
I also enjoy the streamlined menu system, letting you change options without going into a different screen or sitting through any load times. It’s a very clean interface.
Lastly, the “demos” of their other DVD’s are certainly inspiring – I’m very tempted to pick up their aquarium DVD – my cats were HILARIOUS watching the brief demo! (Give cats some cat-nip and a 65-inch-wide clown fish and their freakin’ heads will explode…)
It’s not perfect, but I was satisfied. Plus it’s hilarious to see your family confused when they come to visit for the Holidays and have that “wait, you didn’t have a fireplace before…” moment.

real nice picture. I’m not a fan of the holiday fireplace one. The sparks, crackling could be better. Only wish that this BR could have a longer loop allowing variations in a fire progression. Seems too stagnent like a short loop over and over. Nice picture and color though

I bought the three pack (fireplace, aquarium, and space). I thought the fireplace was the weakest of the three. It’s just a fire, albeit a super high res one! The aquarium has fish moving around and is interesting to watch. The space one, though, is by far my favorite. It has tons of very high quality images plus a mode where you fly though the galaxy with stars going past you. It’s really mesmerizing. Cool way to show off your tv or just to have in the background.
All in all, totally worth the $10 I paid.

Fabulous Fire DVD
When my hubby suggested we get this for the holidays, I laughed and said, “Really?” I ordered it since he wanted it and was pleasantly surprised. I prefer the “regular” fire and the crackling sound. Sometimes, I like the fire and my own music. I don’t prefer the music they play, but I don’t think it takes away from the fire at all, you can just turn the sound off.
I would recommend it, we loved it and so did all our friends and family.

I doesn’t put out a lot of heat unless you have a plasma. 
But it works. Nice clean menu. Video quality is great!
Again for the price you can’t really go wrong. I only gave it 3 stars cause it didn’t “Wow” me much.
