I am a novice fly fisherman who just bought a flight of 490 Sage # 4 -9 'and Ross fly casting reel # 3 to January 5 weight?
the combo is good for trout and the book under 2? thanks? TG
I have a 8'6 "Weight 4-5-6. What I use both bass and trout. The key here is Leader and Tippet change of different fish. I use a 3x 4x tippet leader with Bass. The lake water is so clear and the bass are not as demanding as the trout. For trout I use a leader with a 4x or 6x 7x tippet. More clean water layer. Two and four lines pilgrim book seems to work best with trout as they seem to be able to see the line. You must reduce the drag to work with two pounds or 4 pounds test. It works as I took four pounds Browns and Rainbows.
